The Novoa family has much to reflect on for 2008. Obviously, the biggest thing for us was the birth of our son Oliver, but there were many other events that are worth noting like:
The election of our first African American president
The Yankees didn't make it into the post season
Two of our dearest friends found out they were pregnant
My brother and his girlfriend got engaged
Gasoline hits over $4 a gallon
The Detroit Lions go 0-16
(Let's not even talk about the Patriots)
Eliot Spitzer gets caught with his pants down
The stock market takes a tumble (to say the least)
Michael Phelps makes Olympic history
Tina Fey finds her true calling
...and many more exciting things
Jennifer and I feel truly blessed to have such wonderful family and friends in our lives. It was so fulfilling to share this exciting year with all of you and we look forward to sharing many more fun adventures with everyone. So, with a cherry wave we say goodbye to 2008 and welcome 2009.
Oliver had a pretty low key but fun New Years Eve considering he slept right through it. He, Jennifer and I spent the evening at home with Chinese food and a mixture of Dick Clark, Carson Daily and Anderson Cooper. We were supposed to go out for the evening to Auntie Q and A's for a celebration but Mother Nature had a snow storm in mind instead which then lead to parking bans in Cambridge. Ugg. So we stayed in and made the most of it that we could. Oliver still seemed to enjoy himself enough to feel inspired to get dressed up in his New Years outfit.
New Years Day brought a much better weather situation so we high tailed it to Q & A's for an oh so yummy brunch. Oliver got to spend some quality time with is many Aunts.
Ari even showed Oliver that it is indeed still cool to wear sweater vests.
Oliver also got this truly awesome toy from Q & A. It's a bouncing monkey on a swing which Oliver absolutely adores. He even tries to look at it when we are feeding him from across the room.
