Oh Boy, Oh Boy!!!

That's right ladies and gentlemen....we are having a boy! We went for our ultrasound this afternoon and it didn't take long for the ultrasound tech to locate the family jewels. We couldn't be happier and can't wait to meet our little son.

A fond farewell to the 1st Trimester.

Now that I am in the 2nd trimester, and enjoying the absence of the progesterone suppositories, I do miss my orange cravings and the wonderfully euphoric heightened sense of smell. They seem to have left me the same way the progesterone plungers have.

At one point I could smell an intoxicating scent of orange so acutely that it was as if someone was brewing orange herbal tea on my desk, when in fact it was only gum being chewed by a colleague several feet away. During this time of about 2 weeks I also managed to polish off 3 entire crates of clementine oranges. I simply couldn't get enough!

Overlapping this fascination for oranges was also the irresistible craving for tomatoes. Especially in pico de gallo or salsa form. I have eaten more quesadilla's in the last 2 months than I did cumulatively in my entire life before this pregnancy. There is nothing particularly enticing about quesadillas... they are simply the vehicle to satisfy my tomato addiction.

Also I am lucky to have friends who have recently undergone the pregnant condition to come to my aid. Shawn Straub sent me a care package in the first month filled with odd trinkets that initially, I could only wonder at their usefulness. A few weeks later when my pants no longer fit comfortably... I dipped into Shawn’s box to find a miracle invention The Belly Band! Later, I was saved again by this box of random stuff when my breasts no longer fit comfortably into my current bra size, and I found the bra extension device!

The first of many lists.

My favorites for the first Trimester:
Clementine oranges
Trident orange chewing gum
any orange or fruity herbal tea
pico de gallo
salsa
ketchup
stewed tomatoes
fresh sliced tomatoes
orange juice
any fruit juice
waffles (I have no idea what the correlation is)
belly bands
bra extenders
burts bee vitamin E oil
Shawn Straub

Items I am happy to leave behind in the first Trimester:
chalk panties
progesterone plungers
progesterone shots
excessive sleepiness
some minor moodiness
sore breasts
